Cannabis Species And Strains

As of today, there are thousands of varieties of cannabis under different names, a result of selective in-breeding and improving of cannabis plants over the years. Each variety has its own effect on the body and the mind. The most common way to distinguish between the different species is by dividing them into two main categories: Sativa and Indica. However, the most common strains today are a combination of Sativa and Indica in different proportions, and therefore it may be said that there is a third variety – Hybrid. The division into categories is common in both the recreational and medical markets. The method to classify these three strains, according to their effects, requires extensive knowledge and experience.

Indica:

originated in India. Has a soothing effect on the body.
Indica plants are low in height and have large leaves.
The Indica strain tends to contain more CBD, induces the sensation of heaviness and muscle relaxation, contributes to a general feeling of calm; highly recommended for use at night, induces sleep, has an enhanced physiological effect, reduces anxiety and alleviates pain for those who suffer from different conditions.

Sativa:

The Sativa strain has an energy-boosting effect that impacts both body and soul, makes the user feel lighter.
Sativa plants are tall with long leaves. Sativa tends to contain more THC, it is recommended for daily use, reduces depression, increases appetite, has an enhanced mental effect, and helps those suffering from migraines and chronic pain.

Hybrid strains:

A hybrid cannabis is in fact a combination of different Indica and Sativa. When botanically combined, a new variety is created. Most cannabis strains around the world belong to some Indica-Sativa mixing, i.e., most of the common strains are hybrids. Some will be 50% Indica/ 50% Sativa, but most will be comprised of different proportions, in varying percentages. Science now enables us to create innumerable types with different and varied effects.
Specific properties are taken from a cannabis plant and a new variety with its own specific properties is created.
Given the vast diversity in cannabis varieties and strains, it is not easy to find the right type for you and it requires extensive knowledge and experience.
